A severe thunderstorm warning for destructive wind, heavy
rainfall, large hailstones and tornadoes has been issued
this afternoon for the greater Melbourne region, after funnel
clouds were sighted across the northern suburbs.
Funnel clouds, which can turn into tornadoes, have been
reported at Tullamarine, Cragieburn and St Albans, however
Melbourne Airport said it remains open for now.
Melburnians in the Inner, Northern, Western, Port Phillip, Inner
East, South East and Geelong, and Bellarine Peninsula local
warning areas should brace for wild weather this afternoon.
