I know many people support the death penalty. They say it stops serious crimes, like murder. They also say it's cheaper than keeping someone in prison all their life. Plus, they think that killers should have the death penalty - a life for a life. I agree with all this. But it would be terrible to kill the wrong person. Who can say this will never happen? There is always this chance. For me, this would be a worse crime. I think this is the most important thing of all.

我知道很多人都支持死刑. 這些贊同的人說 死刑可以嚇阻像是謀殺這類嚴重的犯罪行為. 他們還認為 這比把犯人一輩子關在監獄裡省掉更多(社會)成本. 況且他們還認為 殺人者本就該判死刑 畢竟這是一命抵一命(或以牙還牙). 以上種種 我都同意. 但是萬一如果抓錯人判錯死刑 豈不是更糟? 誰能保證這種事情永不會發生? 多少總是會有發生的機率. 對我而言 這可是更嚴重的錯誤(或罪過) . 我想 這才是這個議題中最重要的部份.

我知道多數人都支持死刑，他們稱這才可以防止嚴重的犯罪，如謀殺。並且還說死刑比把一個人關在一輩子監獄裡更經濟，加上，一命抵一命, 殺人犯應該被處於極刑。
我都同意，但如果判了無辜的人死刑是非常糟糕的，誰說這永遠不會發生呢?世事難預料。對我來說，錯殺人才是最糟的事，這一點也是最重要的。
