然後在下面寫上「Taiwanese」，
千萬別因為找不到 Taiwanese 這欄又覺得麻煩，就直接圈選 Chinese。
這有差嗎？也許有人會問。
當然有差啦。如果你是美國政府，在分配資源的時候，
你會留一小塊給那個普查結果不存在的族群嗎？
如果美國政府以為在美台灣人只有小貓兩三隻，
那各級團體將來在歸類台灣為「Taiwan, a province of China」時，
還需要客氣嗎？
台灣人到時再來抗議，有力道嗎？
最重要的是，我明明就是台灣人，拿著台灣的護照，取著台灣的名字，
為什麼我偏偏得要在普查的時候用別的「代號」？
不需要，不需要。我是台灣人，
I am Taiwanese，這是事實，簡單明瞭。
就像我們在填寫任何文件的時候一定都是據實以告一樣，
寫 US census 時，請大家也誠實地告訴美國政府：I am Taiwanese。

: Why is this important? Census data is used to distribute CONGRESSIONAL SEATS
: to states, to make decisions about what COMMUNITY SERVICES to provide, and to
: distribute $400 BILLION in federal funds to local, state and tribal governments
: each year.
